About this work
The first volume of The Imaginarium Trilogy tells the story of Eva, and her journey from ruination to salvation — saving the world from a powerful nemesis. It is told entirely in fine art photographic images: over 150 of them, in one volume.
There were no auditions. My one rule is that you have to be a genuine steampunk to be in the story. If I meet someone in an amazing costume the character forms in my mind instantly, back story and all, as though I have lived their life. The book carries a cast of over 150 real people, in their own costumes.
Each image takes between 100 and 300 hours to build. The street scene took over six hundred. The elements are photographed in New York, London, Barcelona, Cambodia, Poland, Kefalonia and Portugal — and where I cannot find the exact location, I build one: that street is made from buildings all over Britain, from Leamington to London.
The influence of Caravaggio, Vermeer and Rembrandt runs through all of it, in the shadows more than anywhere else.
Each copy is individually numbered, signed and hologrammed. The edition is capped at 1,000 and only a limited number remain. There will be no reprint, and buying Book One reserves your number for Books Two and Three — so the set you end up with is matched.
How it is made, and what you receive
