About this work
Bent beneath a troubled sky, a solitary figure appears caught between surrender and escape. Above her, the red-and-black balloon becomes a fragile vessel for anxiety itself — rising with hope, falling with fear, never entirely belonging to either.
Its divided colours echo the unstable rhythm of an anxious mind: the red of intensity, urgency and life set against the black of dread, uncertainty and descent. The line that binds the balloon to the figure suggests that these opposing forces are not distant from her, but intimately connected.
Around her, the landscape seems to fracture and scatter into the darkness, as though the world itself is being pulled apart by unseen pressure.
Held by the Anxiety of Life reflects the exhausting contradiction of anxiety — the desire to rise above it while remaining tethered to the very thing that pulls us back down.

- Every element is photographed separately, then layered and worked in Photoshop until the scene holds together as one image.

- Every photograph in every composite was taken by me. Nothing here is generated, and nothing is bought in from a library.
